Facilities health care engineering is very diversified in nature and involves taking on many roles. Facilities engineering includes an understanding of the building’s design and equipment needs. Maintenance of equipment such as HVAC, refrigeration, electricity, plumbing and mechanical plant is required along with knowledge of medical equipment, building management systems and grounds keeping. Often the facilities department covers the design or renovation of existing or new buildings by soliciting and evaluating contractor bids, consulting with architects, engineers and other contractors.
The Facilities team provide the link between the buildings and plant which house the health care service and the departmental managers, doctors, and staff who perform the required health care.
